The Thorn Tree Project

An organization created by our friend Jane Newman, the Trust is dedicated to providing education to the families of the nomadic Samburu tribe in Northern Kenya. Inspired by the large thorn tree pre-schools use as their “classroom,” the identity balances local culture with a sophisticated appeal to New York philanthropists. Best moment? Jane’s face when she saw the super low-tech version of the logo on a rubber stamp – usable anywhere there’s no power supply. Sometimes, it does us good to branch out.
